OOIDA in latest legal filing: ELD mandate too costly, too intrusive
OOIDA again argues in its latest brief the rule violates truckersâ 4th Amendment protections against illegal search and seizures and does not meet Congressâ requirements for the rule. The group also argues the mandate still opens the door for truckers to be harassed by their employers via the devices and does not stand up to a cost benefit analysis.

Truckers, FMCSA to square off in court over ELD mandate this September
The federal court overseeing the lawsuit challenging the U.S. DOTâs electronic logging device mandate has scheduled oral arguments for the case to be heard in court on Sept. 13, where the owner-operator plaintiffs in the case hope to convince the court to strike down the U.S. DOTâs ELD mandate.

FMCSA gets two extra weeks to issue response to ELD court challenge
FMCSA must now issue its response by June 15. The plaintiffs in the case, which includes the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and truckers Mark Elrod and Richard Pingel, under the new schedule now have until June 29 to file a court response to the agencyâs brief.
