Video: Take a run through small fleet owner Ben Cadle’s new flagship 1982 cabover, as seen at GATS this year as well as at the Southern Classic Truck Show in N.C. He hauls about a load a week in it today, he says, after spending a year and a half or more turning it into this custom gem.

2017 GATS Best of Show, Builders Class: Puzzle comes together for autism theme
Of the nearly 2,000 puzzle pieces on the custom-built rig, some are welded into the cab floor and the deck plate, as well as on the wheels. He says more than 600 man-hours went into the welding of the floor and deck plate alone.

Brent Wilson’s 1999 Freightliner Classic and 2012 Mac dump
It’s powered by a 12.7-liter Detroit that puts out 600 horsepower with a 10-speed and 3:90 rears. The rig was originally red, but the turbo exploded in 2012, causing an oil fire. Wilson decided to paint it metallic gray to match his 1987 Chevrolet pickup truck.

It was originally black with orange flames, but to make it consistent with the rest of the fleet, Lindamood painted the truck silver with blue flames.

2017 GATS Best of Show, Limited Mileage Combo: Striking look for viper red KW
The custom interior features shag carpeting and a mini-disco ball hanging in the large studio sleeper. Also inside are more than 800 buttons in the upholstery, each of which had to be sanded, primed, painted and clear-coated viper red to match the rest of the rig.

McCormick Trucking owner-operator’s dream hauler: This classic 1990 Kenworth W900
Dave McCormick fell in love with this KW when it was purchased new more than 20 years ago by original owner-operator, from his Roanoke, Va.-area home base. He was finally able to purchase it in January of 2014 and hauls cattle with it today.
