Hours of service proposal could come by end of March
Signs point to a decision on whether to move forward with hours change from FMCSA sooner than later â by Spring, regulators said during a call with owner-operators put together by Scott Reed and Scott Jordan of the Independent Carrier Group covering hours, the ELD mandate and exemptions, training and enforcement topics.

The FMCSAâs change to its guidance on the pre-2000 model year exemption to the ELD mandate â when the agency specified the engine year instead of the chassis year as the determining factor â sealed the deal for owner-operator Scott Hampton in his plans to do a $75K custom-restoration of his 2000 Peterbilt 379.
