Spot market activity continues up for vans, reefers, amid Roadcheck effect on demand indicators
With Roadcheck cutting some truck posts, the van load-to-truck ratio hit its highest mark in three years, and van rates on the top 100 lanes rose to some of the highest prices seen in two years. Overall, posting activity was up overall as well.

Spot demand heating up to levels not seen since 2014
A 5:1 load-to-truck ratio on DAT Load Boards was seen for dry van freight last week. Itâs the highest load-to-truck national average since March 2014, when demand skyrocketed with polar-vortex-related severe weather and led a big rates rally on the spot market that year.

Reefer activity has slowed in Southern Florida, while demand for reefer trucks has picked up farther west, but in North-Central Florida, the Lakeland area is still No. 2 for reefer load posts on DAT load boards. Van load-to-truck nationally inches toward 4, where it really starts to favor carriers.
