Mere inches of a near miss: Quick evasive action saves truck from sure disaster
This dashcam vid comes from the Connecticut-based 250-truck Bozzuto’s fleet. Says Tom Halpin, transportation safety manager at Bozzuto’s: “In the words of the driver,” one of Bozzuto’s most senior, “‘I don’t know if [the motorist] fell asleep or was distracted.’ It was mere inches in a near miss.”

the main changes available for preview include lowering intervention thresholds for some SMS categories, raising the threshold in one BASIC and making the Hazmat BASIC public. The agency also has proposed upping the minimum number of crashes needed before registering a Crash Indicator BASIC ranking.

FMCSA proposes raising CSA crash threshold to three crashes before score is calculated
Under the agency’s proposed change carriers would need to record three crashes in the rolling 24-month period before crashes would enter into their CSA scores.
