DOT declines to file opposition in ELD lawsuitâs appeal to Supreme Court
The attorney representing OOIDA and truckers Richard Pingel and Mark Elrod in the ELD challenge says itâs not uncommon for the government to decline to file in such court cases. However, he says, the Supreme Court could ask DOT to file an opposition brief before deciding to hear the case or not.

OOIDA takes ELD case to the Supreme Court
OOIDA, whose legal team is representing independent truckers Richard Pingel and Mark Elrod in the case, has asked the nationâs high court to reevaluate a lower court ruling issued in October that upheld the U.S. DOTâs rule to require truckers to use logging devices to track hours of service.

California bill would add behind-the-wheel training minimum for new truckers
The bill would require 30 hours of driving for a Class A CDL. The bill would restore the requirements proposed by FMCSA last May but not adopted in the agencyâs final driver training standards rule published in December. But theyâd only apply to California-based applicants.
