The American Bakers Association and International Dairy Foods Association, Association of American Railroads and American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, and North Shore Environmental Construction filed exemption requests with FMCSA from certain hours of service provisions when responding to emergencies.

Hours of service proposal could come by end of March
Signs point to a decision on whether to move forward with hours change from FMCSA sooner than later â by Spring, regulators said during a call with owner-operators put together by Scott Reed and Scott Jordan of the Independent Carrier Group covering hours, the ELD mandate and exemptions, training and enforcement topics.

Mobile crane operators get 30-minute break exemption extended
The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association has held the exemption since October 2016 for carriers and drivers operating mobile cranes with a rated lifting capacity of more than 30 tons. The exemption applies to approximately 65,000 mobile crane operators.

Mobile shower, catering group seeks hours relief to better aid firefighters responding to disasters
The National Mobile Shower and Catering Association is requesting the regulations relief for its member companiesâ drivers who are responding under a âResource Order,â an order issued by a federal agency directing firefighters and supporting personnel to respond to forest fires and similar emergencies.
