Four PIB seminars will be held at GATS. Todd Amen and Richard DeForest with business services provider ATBS will present the first two seminars on Friday, Aug. 24, and Kevin Rutherford with Let’s Truck will host the two seminars on Saturday, Aug. 25.

TBS Factoring helping drivers apply for authority at GATS
TBS will be in Booth No. 1644 at the show helping drivers apply for MC/DOT numbers and BOC-3 authorities, waiving its normal service fee. Drivers will still be required to pay the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s $300 permanent authority fee.

2017 GATS Best of Show, Builders Class: Puzzle comes together for autism theme
Of the nearly 2,000 puzzle pieces on the custom-built rig, some are welded into the cab floor and the deck plate, as well as on the wheels. He says more than 600 man-hours went into the welding of the floor and deck plate alone.

2017 GATS Best of Show, Limited Mileage Combo: Striking look for viper red KW
The custom interior features shag carpeting and a mini-disco ball hanging in the large studio sleeper. Also inside are more than 800 buttons in the upholstery, each of which had to be sanded, primed, painted and clear-coated viper red to match the rest of the rig.

2017 GATS Best of Show winner, Working Bobtail: ‘Poison Ivy’ gets stripes right
The rig’s striping was originally dark green, so he had it restriped by Thunder Grafix in Joplin to make the bright green pop even more. He also had the cab lights and sleeper lights shaved down, and flush bullet lights were installed.

Brandon Avant and his Pete 389 ‘Mistress’
Brandon Avant spent so much time with this 2010 Peterbilt 389 during the two years it took to turn the rig into a championship-contending show truck, his wife Melissa had to give the truck its nickname, “The Mistress.”
