Truck parking coalition talks converting existing facilities to truck parking, other fixes at second meeting
OOIDA Director of Regulatory Affairs Scott Grenerth said approximately 50 people attended the meeting and “shared every possible perspective of the five main focus areas” for the coalition. Those areas of focus are parking capacity expansion, funding and finance, technology and data, coordination with regional and local governments, and creative solutions.

TA-Petro mobile app adds parking reservation system
TravelCenters of America added its “Reserve-It!” parking program to the app in a recent update, which allows drivers to reserve parking up to 30 days in advance at any TA or Petro location and pay for the spot with a credit card in the app.

Kansas studies truck parking issues, plans to use grant for remedies
In the Kansas Statewide Freight Network Truck Parking Plan released earlier this month, KDOT and KTA said truck drivers were spending up to 30 minutes a day looking for parking. That time makes drivers, trucking companies and Kansas agricultural and manufacturing interests less competitive, the study concluded.

Truck parking report shows need for greater info on parking availability, says Trucker Path
Trucker Path found from its crowdsourcing service in its app that 12 percent of truck parking locations along the U.S. highway system, including truck stops, rest areas and other places with truck parking, are 80-90 percent empty between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.
