Podcast: ELDs, truck automation and hours of service through FMCSA’s Martinez’s lens

user-gravatar Headshot

In a wide-ranging interview, FMCSA Administrator Ray Martinez spoke with Overdrive on Aug. 7 in an exclusive interview about trucking industry pain points, the ongoing transition to electronic logging devices, evaluating hours of service reforms, implementation of automated vehicle tech and what he hopes to accomplish as FMCSA’s administrator.

The interview was conducted before the agency announced its move to open the door for evaluating hours of service regulations, which you can read about at this link.

Martinez doesn’t dive too deep into any one subject, but gives frank perspective on what he’s learned about the industry in his six months on the job.

(A note on some background noise you may hear in the recording — it’s hard to escape the sounds of summer in the southern U.S.)
