All the subjects The Algorithm permits
Don’t-call-me-Short Haul Paul keys up the old one-nine with this part-reminiscence, part-dirge on the bluetooth cocoons so many of us fall into around the truck stop counters, at the loading docks, on the long road, where it seems only the “subjects The Algorithm permits” ever get talked about, c’mon…

The time is now: Build truck parking capacity
Bottom line for lawmakers sent by us to the nation’s capitol: We need an infrastructure bill that will open the flow of traffic, make safer merge lanes and truly spur on badly needed truck parking. Please don’t wait for another bridge to collapse, for another trucker trying to provide for his family to be killed for the few dollars in his pocket.

Mentoring is a two-way street when it comes to benefits
“Trucking broadly speaking has seemed to support the idea of apprenticeship and mentoring as a way to improve safety and retention, but I believe the only truly effective way to do that is through experienced owner-operators dedicating themselves to one-on-one mentorship.” Benefits “run both ways.” –Owner-op Gary Buchs on his ow experience with it

Call me ‘Long Haul’ no more
“I’m not sure when length-of-haul shaming with phallic undertones became a thing. … Still, since we’re on the topic, let me go on record here to say: To the nethers with the long haul. There are just too many good regional opportunities available now to make it hard to justify the fight with the ELD/parking shortage/erosion of road manners vortex.”
