I didn’t choose truck driving, it chose me. It all started with a class B and school bus endorsement. From there box truck, tow truck, dump truck, class A big truck, to doubles and triples. My career has spanned over 17 years. OTR, LTL, TL, linehaul, and tailgating tons of stone. I am now 56 years old, 5’4″ long blond (gray) hair and blue eyes. Weighing in at 140lbs. I absolutely love the reaction I get when I step out of the drivers seat of my Freightliner. My handle is Tomboy. Yet the response I usually get is, “You don’t look like a tomboy.” Still not sure what a Tomboy looks like. When I started this career in 1997 I always felt I had to work twice as hard to get half the respect. Not these days. Thank God women are now accepted into the industry.
