At the Mid-America Trucking Show, Peterbilt introduced a line of accessories packages with a Model 589 on display on the show floor, showcasing exterior bright parts and various lighting and interior elements now available through the company's extensive dealer network.
The accessories are crafted from high-quality materials to deliver fit and finish and unrivaled driver appeal, the company said, and at MATS, Product Marketing Director Jacob White offered a tour around a Model 589 on display to illustrate the various elements that are part of the accessories packages.
Exterior package
While individual features can be ordered alone, each of three packages also come as a unit, noted White. For the exterior, the fenderette featuring the Peterbilt logo is part of that along with the sunvisor (see above), rocker panels and wheel covers.
"Starting at the front," said White, the fenderettes that protect the front of the fenders feature a "nice classy Peterbilt logo" embossed there, and the fenders themselves surrounds/extenders.
Rocker panels below both cab and sleeper feature the same cutout design as on the grille, breathers and elsewhere. Shown here, too: strip lighting effects within the lights package.
Pete emblems on both steer wheel covers are designed to remain level while the rest of the wheel rolls.
The wheel emblem shown-mid-spin while wheel is stationary, illustrating the design. Reps on-hand at MATS shared this link to a Youtube video showing the emblems stationary going down the road.
Lighting package
This package enhances light accents all around the rig.
"We’ve got illuminated logos on the front of the truck and on either side of the hood" (as shown), said White.
And the illuminated surround at the front of the truck above the grille. "We planned for that," White said. "Inside the hood are routing provisions for the wiring for those aftermarket accessories," keeping install "clean, smooth and easy" for the 589. "That’s what it’s all about."

More lighting installed in the top/inside the breather canisters.
Open the 589's door at night and the Peterbilt logo will display on the ground as you're exiting, White noted, calling this part of the package a "puddle lamp."
Interior package
Not shown below as part of the interior set of enhancements available through Peterbilt is a "shifter kit" enhancement -- this Model 589 was outfitted with an automated transmission. The rest, though, was as follows and designed to shine up certain elements inside the cab, including chromed grab handles along the door frame to pull up into the cab.
This special bright door panel greets the driver upon entry, likewise a chrome door pull at the top of the door.
This threshold just inside the frame of the door is part of the interior enhancement as well.
Billet brake valves, too, are newly available.
Custom pedals enhance the accents in-cab, along with ...
... what you might call a final touch for accessories-package designers -- these bright and shiny door locks, noted White.
"On the 389 there are very similar components available," White added, yet with a "different kind of look" tailored to the model. Find more via this link.
