Iowa-based independent hog hauler Ron Brubaker was showing this “One of a Kind” 1993 Peterbilt, which the owner-operator spec’d as a short hood in October 1992 and has owned ever since. He’s thought of dubbing it “never finished,” though, given mods continue to this day. In addition to custom engineering work to turn it into an extended hood, lately Brubaker’s been hard at work on the interior with a new tile flooring job and some alligator-skin touches around the bases of the seats, among other things.
Brubaker’s son, Dan, owns and operates this 2014 Peterbilt 389 Detroit-powered glider from Fitzgerald Glider Kits, whose Crossville, Tenn., sales and service location is hosting the show. Showing in Working combo, the rig is one of six in a small fleet the 25-year-old owner owns and operates, working with his father and siblings to keep it loaded with, mostly, hogs. It’s showing with a well-outfitted tri-axle livestock trailer; Dan Brubaker and company do most all of their custom work all on their own.
The original, but chromed, Dayton wheels on Robb Mariani’s 1974 Ford W9000 hot rod, which we profiled at this link following the rig’s win in the Show Truck class at SuperRigs this year, have turned more than a few heads already. The cabover’s showing in the Limited Mileage Bobtail category today.
