Owner-operators have a âright to reviewâ amounts paid by shippers, collected by brokers and disbursed to themselves in any brokered freight transaction. But a right does nothing for anyone if not exercised â too many truckers, watchers contend, just arenât aware of this one.

Custom mapping app Trucker Notes designed by an independent to save parking information
Debbie Desiderato is the owner-op behind the free app, launched within the last few months. She came to it with hopes of creating a way for herself and other truckers to save their notes about locations visited along their routes, chiefly nontraditional parking places but also plenty more, as sheâs found utilizing the app.

Avoid getting stiffed: New flag on brokers with bonds pending cancellation can be effective recon tool
If a surety providerâs notice of cancellation of a brokerâs bond canât result in an immediate suspension because of âthe need for rulemaking,â as FMCSA has noted, âthat is a catch-22,â one watcher says, a âstretch of highway 100 miles longâ with no stop signs against a fradulent broker doing business with no intent to pay.
