Cost of truck financing has risen, even as owner-operator credit scores show improvement
Credit-score polling showed some improvement for owner-ops over five years, yet the hesitancy to extend various forms of credit at lower rates has grown most in recent years for new carriers with authority “and 1-3-truck operators, regardless of their credit score.” For all with three trucks or less, it’s gotten more expensive to borrow money.

California-reared HHG hauler keeps legacy of father, Don Morgan, alive with this T600
It’s a sharp truck, this 1992 Kenworth T600, Detroit 60 Series-powered and with a 149-inch ICT sleeper owner-operator Montgomery Morgan’s father, Don Morgan, had put on when the rig was new. Since Don passed in 2001, his son’s kept the rig working hard, despite his native California’s outlawing it some years back.

2020 income outlook: Owner-operators trend optimistic for the year ahead
Believe it or not, as it were — there were, however, a variety of shrugs and SMHs to the annual question on business income outlook for the new year this time around social media. Polling results, however, showed much more of an “it’s got to be better than last year” dynamic than results this time in 2019.

ELD mandate final deadline — today or tomorrow?
If FMCSA and various news outlets’ use of Dec. 16/Dec. 17 for the deadline hasn’t exactly been 100% consistent leading into this week, the CVSA’s has. Today is the last day it’s OK to use a grandfathered AOBRD for those covered by the mandate. Wildcard thereafter: as usual, extent of enforcement.
