AppWeigh‘s Bluetooth load scale allows owner-operators to keep track of their truck’s weight without the need for a physical scale.
The company’s sensors hook into a truck or trailer’s air suspension and provide the weight information to a mobile app. “We’re just harnessing the power that’s already in your pocket,” says AppWeigh C0-Founder Scott McCulloch.
When they system is installed, it has to be calibrated by inputting weight information from a certified scale, then it is able to weigh within 200 pounds of the actual weight.
A standard truck and trailer combination would need just two sensors – on the drive axles and the trailer axles. McCulloch says one sensor is needed for each leveling valve on a truck. The sensors are $150 each.
