Attendees of this year’s Great American Trucking Show in Dallas will have the opportunity to attend a host of educational sessions throughout the event.
Seminars include updates to the electronic logging device mandate to owner-operator taxes and more.
All of the educational seminars held during the Aug. 25-27 show are produced in partnership with the Texas Trucking Association. The seminars offered at GATS are as follows:
•ELD regulatory update for owner-operators
When: Thursday, Aug. 25 from 2-3 p.m. in Room D161; Friday, Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D162; and Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D162
What: This session will focus on implementing electronic logging devices and the regulator components of the new regulation.
•How to prepare for a safety review
When: Friday, Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D161 and Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D161
What: Learn specifics about preparing for a safety review by either the U.S. Department of Transportation or state officials.

What: The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Driver’s License Division will update attendees on the implementation of combining the CDL with a driver’s Medical Certificate in Texas.
•Hot legal topics: From firearms to social media
When: Friday, Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. to noon in Room D164
What: Learn about legal issues involving drivers and trucking companies, as well as issues that may come in the future.
•Owner-operator taxes 101
When: Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10-11 a.m. in Room D164
What: Find out the latest information on tax laws, how to prepare for the upcoming tax year, how to utilize tax exemptions and more.
•Recordable crashes: Who’s on your side as an owner-operator?
When: Saturday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to noon in Room D162
What: Learn what options owner-operators have to have a crash reviewed to determine preventability.
•Successful owner-operators: Are you one?
When: Saturday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to noon in Room D164
What: Learn tips to ensure financial success as an owner-operator.
All of the sessions are free to attend with a GATS registration, which can be done online for free before the show begins. GATS will be held Aug. 25-27 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas.
