Among the participants was TA Petro Truck Service Technical Trainer (and regular guest on the Dave Nemo SiriusXM show) Homer Hogg — TA sponsored the event. Hogg, talking to the walkers just before embarking, described his long and recently culminated effort to lose more than 100 pounds, emphasizing the small steps he took along the way toward the greater goal. “Instead of eating a cookie, I’ll eat cheese instead,” for instance, he said. “When I sit down to eat, I use this rule thumb: If it can fit in the palm of my hand, it’s a meal.”
Exercise, of course, is the primary lynchpin in his efforts, he said. His brief talk held lessons for anyone looking to lose weight. As did Hogg in his effort, take “a moment to sit and stop and think about, really, the rest of my life.”
The Trucking Solutions Group, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is also holding a blood drive in booth no. 21038.
Among other fitness events is a Saturday, Aug. 25, early a.m. bike ride at Dallas’ Katy Trail.
