Three weeks ago saw the first price increase after 12 straight weekly declines dating back to April 9; during that time, the price of diesel had dropped 49.9 cents a gallon. Still, this week’s price is 14.1 cents below the same week last year.
Average retail prices rose in most regions, led by a 3.3-cent increase to $3.782 in the Midwest. The largest decrease was 1.5 cents to $ 3.696 on the Gulf Coast, the least expensive diesel on average. The most expensive diesel on average was $3.967 a gallon in California, where prices fell 0.9 cent.
