Listening Time: 3 hours
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Audio

Genre: Mystery/horror

Plot: There have been three families murdered, and the authorities need to stop a psychopathic killer. They call in the FBI agent who caught the crazed killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter to help them. When that agent needs help, he turns to Lecter to get an idea of the killer’s state of mind. But the doctor wants to mess with Graham’s mind. Meanwhile, the killer’s mind is slipping, and he becomes more grisly, so the race is on to see who wins.
Main characters: Red Dragon is the increasingly unstable, increasingly gruesome murderer. Will Graham is the FBI agent who must stop him. Dr. Hannibal Lecter is an imprisoned killer, capable of cannibalism and evilly, brilliantly unpredictable and deadly.

What’s best (or not)?: It needs to be unabridged. They have too many story lines going at once, and they leave some hanging and never really finish all of them. It leaves you wanting more.

Would you recommend? Maybe. It is suspenseful, and you always want to know who will win in the end.

Narrator’s style: Thomas Harris narrates. I find him a little dry in places, but overall he did a good job.
